Rare German WW2 remote fuze detonator for SMI-35 bouncing mine
A very rare German WW2 El.S.Mi.Z.40 remote pressure detonator for the SMI-35 bouncing anti-personnel mine (bouncing betty). Good condition, makers code and 1942 date visible as is some original anodised finish. Just missing it’s safety pin & pull ring.

Description
These detonators were designed to be used in the desert or on beaches, being placed in the sand on a rodded ‘sand disc’ to create a firm base for the detonator, and linked to an SMI-35 mine. On being stepped on, a glass ampoule of electrolyte fluid was broken forming an electrical contact thus detonating the mine - it increased the chances of the mine being activated. Usually used in pairs with each mine.
