Description

As used as an anti-aircraft gun and as an air defence gun on Zeppelins, this is a nice, inert, example of the WW1 German 3.7cm Sockelflak Ball-Tracer round. The brass case measures 37x101SR, being the longer semi-rimmed case rather than that used in the more common and shorter 37x94R (1Pr) round. The base of the case has the following headstamps 'K15 Sp255 917 AUG 1918' with original unmarked struck screw-in primer. The hollow ball/tracer projectile is empty and unfired, with a single copper driving band. The projectile sits, albeit rather loosely, in the correct position in the case and has various stamps including 'Sp181'. This is a nice little round.
