WW2 British No9 MkI Dial Sight in Steel Transportation Box

A Second World War British Field Artillery No9 MK1 Dial sight with it's original green painted steel transport case, including two post war desiccant packs. The No9 Dial Sight was used on many field guns during WW2, including the 25Pr, 4.5" and 5.5" Field Guns. It has a periscopic configuration with a rotating head, when the scale was set to zero the sight head was aligned with the axis of the barrel. So good was the design that it continued being used in modified form up until the 1990s. This example is in very good original condition and is in great working order. Clear optics, with rubber eye piece, all dials turn and profusely marked including, 'Sight Dial No9 MkI O.S.127 M.A.' and 'U.I.C No1288 1941' and 'O.S 1015 S.A.'. Image with insert shows the sight picture.
