French Lebel M1886/15 Cruciform 'epee' Bayonet

French Lebel M1886/15 cruciform bayonet and scabbard. This is the cruciform type 'epee' bayonet as fitted to the Lebel M1886 and Berthier M1907 rifles that equipped the French Army during WW1. Introduced in 1886, the original bayonet featured a hook quillon which was removed in 1915 as it snagged on barbed wire, to become the M1886/15 - which is the example for sale here. The hilt could be made from either brass, nickel silver or cast iron. This particular example is in good sound condition with a brass hilt. The full 52cm long blade is clean, with working rotating collar locking device, and the steel scabbard is also good with a clear drain hole so no rust doing damage inside. Stamped on the bayonet is 'SC' and 'J 57852', stamped on scabbard is 'FH 61376'. This is a nice example of the M1886/15.
