Box 15 Rounds 7.92mm M/88 Ball in Clips

For sale here is a box of 15 Ball rounds in correct clips of five rounds for the German 7.92mm Gewehr 1888 rifle (7.92mm M1888 'Commission' rifle) complete with the opening 'pull ribbon'. No headstamp on any cartridges. All three steel clips stamped 'I' on the base identifying the manufacturer as Munitionsfabrik Spandau, two with an 'o' on the side signifying refurbished. The cartridges are the original round-nosed 8mm, Patrone 88 NOT the post-1903 pointed (Spitzer) S-Patrone. Nickel jacketed, round nosed bullets without any stamped makers monogram on the lead bases. Oiled primers with rattler in each case. All cases, except one, have a neck crack but all still hold the projectile in the correct position. Cardboard box is without any markings apart from the remains of a circular green seal label.

Everything about this item says 'old'; from the surface corrosion on the steel clips, the black staining on the brass cases and the rusted staples holding the cardboard box together. Possibly a German export or clandestine box of rounds from the Northern Ireland 'Troubles', but I'll leave it to others with more knowledge than me to confirm. An interesting, and rare, piece of history.

Condition as per images. P&P to a Mainland UK postcode address will be £4.50.
